個人的に好きなエピソードは、中島らも氏か町田康氏かリリー・フランキー氏が体験した話で、定食屋かソバ屋のじーさんがいて、仏のような人格者だった。どんな客が来てもいつも笑顔で礼儀正しい。こんないい人はいないと言うと、じーさんは謙遜する。
　で、みんなでご飯注文したら、じーさんの奥さんであるばーさんが食器を運ぶ。で、なぜかばーさんが手違いで箸を落とした。
　じーさんは、その場でばーさんを「お客さんになにしてんだ、ババァ、死ね！」みたいな感じで罵り、鉄拳と灰皿か食器で殴って出血。ばーさんは鼻血を出してのたうつ。ばーさんが箸を落としたのは、じーさんに心底怯えていたからだった。
　その場にいた人が思ったのは「ああ、全方面に良い人でいるのは、人間には不可能で、良い人に見えたとしても、たまたま良い人に見える方角に自分が立っていただけ」だそうな。まさに。
　私が人格者という評判を信用しないのはそゆこと。 —
